Nestled near the center of LGBT History Month, National Coming Out Day is recognized on October 11, and is a day used by many queer folk as a holiday to “come out” and share their true identities.

While the definition of coming out may seem fairly clear-cut, the reality is somewhat more complicated. Merriam-Webster defines the verb “to come out” as

a. to openly declare one’s sexual orientation or gender identity
b. to openly declare something about oneself previously kept hidden

Despite how direct the description makes it sound, there is much more nuance to the decision of coming out…

For many Americans, Hispanic Heritage Month is an appreciation month for all of the wonderful things that Hispanic culture is stereotypically known for: tequila, taco trucks, and mariachi bands. For those of us who identify as Hispanic and/or Latinx, the month is yet another reminder of our roots and the work that was done to get here. And for some of us, the month is bittersweet — a reminder that we have dipped our toes into two cultural ponds where we do not fully fit in.

My parents immigrated to the U.S. when they were both young adults, and together…

It’s been a month since COVID-19 changed, well, everything. I can’t decide if it feels longer or if it was just yesterday when I was looking forward to a very different few months ahead. What I can say is that although it has only been a month, I feel as if I’ve gained a lifetime’s worth of perspective, agility, and humanity. Not to mention, as CMO and part of Publicis Health’s leadership team, I think I just earned my PhD in crisis management.

First and foremost, this global pandemic has been a health crisis of immense proportion — we’ve all…

The word Seder means “order.” It’s the first thing my brother-in-law quizzes us on when we sit down to the Seder.

Who knows the meaning of the word Seder?”

It’s a rhetorical question, since after all these years we are all poised with the answer. We let a wise child shout out “order!” and our Seder begins.

Every year we travel different distances to get to my sister’s home in Rockland County. …

My Publicis Health internship journey begins in Iceland — a place that’s so beautiful, I feel as though I’m on a different planet. As I’m staring at the vast ocean that stretches across the coastline, my phone lights up. It’s an email from Lori DePace, Program Manager at Publicis Health. The email details an internship opportunity with Égalité, Publicis Health’s business resource group for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies. Lori explains that Égalité means “equality” in French, and I’m immediately sold. I grab my laptop and start filling out the application.

It’s my first Égalité meeting in the office downtown…

At the beginning of my internship at Publicis Health Media this summer, I remember riding my daily SEPTA train commute from Villanova University to Suburban station with looming questions: What will the people be like? Will I adapt quickly? What if I come off as an intern who doesn’t know what she is doing?

In reality, the last question was still a concern of mine until about halfway through the summer — that’s when I finally embraced the “intern mentality.” …

When I was 11-years-old, I mapped out my entire life. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up. Now, here I am — 21-years-old, and it’s safe to say my plans have changed. After changing career paths three times and having six different jobs in different industries, I’ve finally figured out exactly where I want to spend the next 40-plus years of my life. Granted, that’s a bold statement, but I’m on my way to having it all together.

Last month, I started a project management internship at Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness (SSW), a…

“So many times in education we hear no. This has honestly been the first time I have heard yes.”

On the morning of Friday, August 9th, over 400 Publicis Health Philadelphia-based employees from Digitas Health, Publicis Health Media, Razorfish Health, and Verilogue agencies said “yes” to spending their 10th annual community service day at Clara Barton School. As the busses rolled in, faculty and staff welcomed the volunteers with open arms. For Kara Lorentson, Literacy Lead at the K–2 elementary school, the day had an extra impact. Kara knows first-hand how easy it is to say “no” to the call…

As a member of Publicis Groupe’s “Viva Mama” business resource group for working moms, I recently was given the opportunity to attend the Mom 2.0 conference in Austin, Texas. Mom 2.0 is the premier professional conference and gathering of influencers who create online and on-air content about a variety of topics, including parenting, entertainment, politics, and more.

I had no idea what I was signing up for, but there was no way I was passing up a kid-free adventure to a new and exciting city that I had not yet visited.

I packed my bags and embarked on a journey…

In the 20 years of my life, I have lived, studied, and worked in three cities and two countries. For 17 of these years, I resided in Ahmedabad, India, where I was raised. I came to the United States just three years ago. Everything from the languages, the people, and even the work culture has varied vastly within each place I’ve been.

In the U.S., when people hear I am from India, they immediately think I’m from Mumbai or Delhi. Perhaps these cities are the “Manhattans” of India. It’s rare people know of my hometown and where I come from.
